For the first time in the history of the World Dwarf Games, Australia was represented in basketball, swimming, powerlifting, athletics, table tennis and boccia at the fifth World Dwarf Games in Belfast, Northern Ireland between 26 July and 2 August 2009.
The team were farewelled by the Minister for Sport, Hon. James Merlino MP, on Friday 24 July from Melbourne Airport and never looked back. Between 15 athletes, 24 medals were won and the team have returned to Australia with much pride and determination to enter the next World Dwarf Games in 2013.
