The Short Statured People of Australia is a non-profit organisation founded in 1968 to support short statured people (people shorter than 150 cm/4′11″ at adulthood) in Australia.
The SSPA aims to advance equal opportunities in education, employment and the community for persons of short stature; provide support and work towards the removal of disadvantages involving persons of short stature; provide opportunities for fellowship in social activities; and encourage each other, by example, to live a full and happy life. Membership is open to all persons of short stature as well as their family and friends.
This site provides information about the Victorian branch, founded in 1972. The branch regularly holds meetings at the homes of members, normally in Melbourne. Various social activities are held throughout the year as well as a Christmas party.
The SSPA (Vic) is also involved in sports for all ages and in particular basketball.
For more information on the Victorian branch, e-mail any of the committee. Membership and other information on the national association is available at the Short Statured People of Australia web site.
